A DonnaWorld Movie Review

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
This is a faithful adaptation of the novel by William Golding. It is about a group of boys whose airplane crashes on a deserted island. Elijah Wood plays Ralph, the leader. Former Goonie Sean Astin plays the asthmatic nerd Piggy, whose glasses are used to start fire. Viggo Mortensen plays Jack, leader of the savages. Respected actor Sir Ian McKellen plays a pig's head on a stick, also known as the "Lord of the Rings."
I am a big fan of the "Simpsons" episode that was also based on this book. However, I must admit that this movie was more faithful to the source material, and was arguably the better adaptation. It is easy to see why it has earned so much critical acclaim and Oscar nominations. In fact, my knowledge of the "Simpsons" episode was rewarded: The Naval officer who rescues the boys at the end of the movie was played by none other than Springfield bartender Moe Szyslak!
If I had one complaint about the movie, it would be that the dream sequence in which Liv Tyler plays a sexy wood nymph is unnecessary to the story. However, it does add a pretty girl to the otherwise all-male cast, so I can't complain too much. Therefore I give this movie four Donnas.
